Christmas in July (and August)

Fall is just around the corner, so it’s time to think about Christmas cards! I know it seems early, but the schedule gets overfilled and orders get really backed up. Some of my fall schedule filled up in January! The BEST reason to schedule now is the Christmas in July/August Special, because it involves these beautiful cards I’ve been dying to show you.

This year, I’m exclusively offering these 5″ round holiday ornament cards. If you prefer, they can be made as square cards too. They’re available with ribbon or without, so you can use your own ribbon if you like. The White Rabbit has gorgeous ribbons for sale. I also have an arrangement with an online cardmaker that has loads of modern card designs.

So what’s the special?

Book your September or October session before August 15th, and get a set of 24 holiday cards free! (A /$100 value.) Refer a friend who also books by August 15th, and you both get a $100 print credit toward the purchase of your portraits.

Yikes! I haven’t had time to blog, and I just realized my weekly “Mondays for Moms” articles haven’t been posting…even though I thought they were all set up to post automatically. So Mondays for Moms will be back next week. In the meantime, here’s a sneak peek of a fun family session. Such a beautiful evening in the park! It’s that time of year again! Family portrait sessions in September and October are always popular – and surprisingly, this year is proving to be no exception. Dates for sessions are going faster than anticipated, so fair warning… they could be booked up by the end of this month. The last day I can shoot a session for pre-Christmas delivery is October 31st. Motherhood in St. Louis

…and fatherhood. I’ve been blogging lots of new little babies, but what else happens in a newborn session? I capture this wonderful time in your lives. It’s all about your new baby, but you’re the biggest thing in your new baby’s life, so we can’t leave you out. The bonding, the comforting, the nursing…I spend time saving those memories for you too.

Life doesn’t wait for recessions to end

So, I have a plan to help you capture it in the meantime. I’ve been pleasantly surprised with continued bookings during this recession we’re apparently in, and it warms my heart to know that those clients are valuing the captured memories they make during their portrait sessions. Other purchases might need to be put off right now, but life just doesn’t stop and wait for recessions to be over. Those babies are growing fast. There’s never going to be another time to capture them the way they are now. I’m not going to try to convince you that you won’t have memories without photos, because we all have our minds. But if you’re like me, your mind is filled to capacity these days, and my memory needs triggers. The photos on my walls trigger those memories, and especially in times like these, they make me smile.

During economic downturns, it’s all about prioritizing; choosing which purchases can wait and which one’s can’t. Enjoying family and the simple life, and getting value for your money.

My custom photography is like getting 3 things for the price of one. First, you get a fun day together, while I photograph you. Sometimes we don’t set aside that time to create memories, but for a session with me, you have to. It’s scheduled. It’s on the calendar. And then you also get beautiful pieces of art for your home. Something you might otherwise hold off on, if it weren’t also going to satisfy a third purpose…a family heirloom that will bring you incredible joy for years to come. What better kind of art to fill your walls with?

I do have clients who’ve expressed the need to cut back, even on things that are important to them, like portraits. I’m hoping my own bailout program will help, so you don’t have to miss some of the moments that will happen this year. You may have been forgotten by Congress, but your families are important to me. Colorado winter wedding

I had the privilege of photographing my friend’s wedding in the mountains of Colorado this last weekend. We were prepared for snow, of which there wasn’t much, but not for the fierce winds we encountered at their first location choice. Their backup location was beautiful! I can’t wait to start working on these images! Congratulations M&B!
