Do you want to know what a portrait session with me is like? Here’s where you can get some insight into how I work.
Because my photography is all about capturing you or your family as real people, all sessions are on location, either in your own home or another location that you enjoy. If you’d like recommendations from me, I have my favorite locations to shoot in. But people hire me because they love that every session I do is different, and reflects the personalities and lives of those I’m photographing. So I’m completely open to your ideas.
During the pre-session phonecall or email, and through a new client questionnaire, I take note of your interests, your style, and your requests to make sure I create work you’ll love. During the shoot, I see the connections between family members, I notice the looks, the mannerisms, and the moments, and I capture them for you.
Sessions usually last 2-3 hours, but are never rushed. Your session will be the only one scheduled that day, so you have my undivided attention. There’s plenty of time for any needed breaks, such as diaper changes, feedings, tending to a crying baby, or a child who has a meltdown. It’s all normal, and so my philosophy is that limiting a session to a short appointment between other appointments can be a recipe for disaster. I eliminate the tension for both of us by leaving time to just go with the flow, allowing you and your family to be yourselves.
After the session, when the proofs are ready, I can help you plan your portrait displays and wall groupings. Help you decide on gifts for family members, or what images would look best in an album layout. I do sell digital files, but most people who hire me do so because they want what I’m the best at – the finished portrait art. Everything I deliver in print has been fully finished and retouched, the prints are mounted, matted, and each piece is delivered as hand signed artwork.
The end result is a set of memories that you’re proud to display in your home as fine art.
A portrait session with me is, admittedly, not for everyone. It’s for those of you who want a photographer who takes the time to connect with you and tell YOUR story.
